
Inco Network, a Web3 privacy infrastructure provider, has announced the launch of Inco Lightning on the Base mainnet, introducing a framework designed to enable developers to build confidential applications on existing Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM)-compatible networks.
The launch allows developers to integrate privacy-focused functionality into smart contracts without requiring a new programming language, separate blockchain deployment, or major changes to existing development workflows. Inco Lightning is built to work with standard Solidity contracts, providing access to encrypted data types and confidential computing features through a simplified integration process.
The platform introduces encrypted data types that allow developers to store private information directly on-chain while maintaining compatibility with existing Solidity structures, including mappings, contracts, and function logic. Through these encrypted data formats, applications can process sensitive information without exposing the underlying data publicly.
Inco Lightning also enables confidential computation, allowing operations such as arithmetic calculations, comparisons, logical functions, and conditional execution to be performed on encrypted data without requiring decryption. This functionality is designed to support applications where sensitive information must remain protected throughout the transaction process.
Another feature included in the launch is encrypted randomness, which enables developers to generate verifiable random values on-chain while maintaining privacy. The technology could support use cases such as blockchain-based gaming, private auctions, and other applications requiring secure randomization mechanisms.
Confidential Computing Expands Blockchain Use Cases Beyond Transparency
The platform also includes programmable access controls that allow developers to define permissions for encrypted data at the smart contract level. These capabilities are designed to support compliance requirements, role-based access systems, and selective disclosure models where information is only revealed to approved participants.
For situations where encrypted data needs to be accessed, Inco Lightning provides a decryption and re-encryption framework designed around a network of trusted execution environment (TEE)-based decryption nodes. The system uses verified attestations to manage secure data access while maintaining confidentiality.
The release also introduces a JavaScript SDK that connects applications with confidential smart contracts, supporting features such as input encryption, key management, EIP-712 signing, and local decryption. Additional features include encrypted lists, which allow developers to manage private collections of encrypted data, delegated viewing permissions for temporary access control, and attested computation that enables verification of encrypted data results without exposing the original information.
According to Inco Network, confidential computing expands the range of possible blockchain applications by addressing privacy limitations that have restricted broader adoption. Potential use cases include private payments, confidential decentralized finance applications, private governance systems, and blockchain-based games with hidden states.
The company stated that developers can begin building with Inco Lightning using existing Solidity workflows and standard deployment processes, without requiring additional infrastructure. The launch on Base mainnet represents an effort to bring privacy-focused functionality to existing blockchain ecosystems while simplifying the development of confidential Web3 applications.
